CHRISTINE’S EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND

Christine Zupancic Lic.Ac. has been a NCCAOM board certified acupuncturist for 24 years. She graduated from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine where she trained as an Acupuncture Physician, mastering the applications of acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Food Energetics and Supplementation, Tui Na and moxibustion. She practiced as a licensed Acupuncture Physician in Florida prior to returning to Ohio to open her practice. She was the 15th acupuncturist licensed in Ohio and was the only NCCAOM Board Certified acupuncturist practicing in Lorain County for many years prior to moving into Rocky River.

She has continued her acupuncture education clocking more than 60+ continuing education units every 4 years.

She graduated from the prestigious Hiram College with a major in biology and minor in chemistry, and was awarded an undergraduate research intern position the summer before her senior year at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Virology. Combining her science background with her interests in the cultural aspects of healing, she completed dual Master degrees at the University of Cincinnati in anthropology and public health. She worked extensively in Belize, Central America on the National Geographic Maya Mountains Archaeological Project in 1992, returning in 1994 and 1996 on grants she secured to further her own research in herbal medicines.

Spending time immersed in the Kek’chi Mayan culture in Central America, she witnessed healings from herbal medicine preparations and other cultural healing modalities. These experiences combined with her parents progressive practice of healthcare in the 1970s, where they regularly received treatment from acupuncturists, mechanotherapists and chiropractors, led her to pursue, study and practice Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She loves and appreciates the animal kingdom and is a Certified Equine Massage Therapist from the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupuressure and Massage, a Reiki Master, and has studied full immersion Spanish at the Proyetco Linguistico Francisco Marroquin, the oldest language school located in Antigua, Guatemala.  Christine has enjoyed traveling throughout the countries of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Ireland, Croatia; and her beloved Austria and Slovenia from where her family originates.

She thrives when working with people and educating them on the benefits of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Food Energetics, and holistic well-being.

In her time away from the office, Christine and her husband are active in the canine rescue community, enjoy traveling the world, working out, gardening, being in the great outdoors, and watching European detective shows.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”  ~Mark Twain
