NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: In Ohio, an "Acupuncturist" is an NCCAOM/NCBAHM Board certified acupuncturist (ORC 4762.08). An NCCAOM/NCBAHM Board certified acupuncturist graduated from a three or four year graduate level training at a college/university in Traditional Chinese Medicine and passed the National Acupuncture Board exams administered by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM/NCBAHM). This governing body recently changed this designation to NCBAHM. The NCBAHM is the national governing body certifying thoroughly trained "Acupuncturists." An NCBAHM certified acupuncturist practicing in Ohio is then licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio to practice as an “Acupuncturist”.
*Other health care professionals in Ohio who advertise the “practice of acupuncture" or use the title “acupuncturist” may not be certified by the NCBAHM Board.
*Only NCBAHM Board Certified practitioners can identify themselves as:
“Acupuncturists”.
Be sure to check your practitioner’s education history and board certifications. Practitioners may state they are “certified”, however, the defining question you need to ask is: through which board?
*****dry needling is NOT Traditional Chinese Acupuncture *****
Always choose an NCBAHM certified acupuncturist. When finding a practitioner, be sure to ask about their extent of education and if they hold the NCBAHM certification. You can confirm their board certification at www.NCBAHM.org. Its about your well being. Thank you for visiting.
